It’s statistics that send shivers through all of our spines …
- One child dies every five minutes as a result of violence.
- In Australia, one in six women and one in ten men report having been physically and/or sexually abused as a child
- Indigenous Australian children are seven times more likely to experience abuse or neglect.
- An estimated 120 million girls and 73 million boys have been victims of sexual violence.
Yet often most people believe there is nothing they can do to help, but they would be wrong.
Thanks to the incredible team at Polished Man, everyone can get involved and help this incredible organization and bring an end to violence against children.
The Polished Man believes in a world where no child suffers from violence, because it shouldn’t hurt to be a child, and we all have the power to change this. But the reality right now is very different. One child dies every five minutes as a result of violence – That’s one too many.
The Polished Man campaign encourages men (and women) to take a stand and actively commit to ending violence against children by painting one nail for the month of October. By representing this harrowing statistic, they raise a conversation as well as awareness and funds to ensure no child suffers from violence.
One week from today The Polished will host it’s 2019 Gala – Time To Shine.
This evening encourages guests to shine with a little sparkle, and of course to ‘shine a light’ on this crucial issue.
Following an incredible 2018 campaign which raised over 1.7 million dollars, the event will launch the 2019 campaign and is one of the key fundraising events in the Polished Man Calendar, and it’s time we all get involved.
Hosted by the incredible Tommy Collins team who are set to delight guests with their amazing culinary creations, along with Pizzini Wines and Doss Blockos beers – this will be one spectacular evening, bringing awareness to an incredible cause.
The evening will also host an array of incredible items available for sale at both the silent auction and the live auction, including a money can’t buy experience to Harry Potter And The Cursed Child, a trip to Bali, signed merchandise and much more.
And of course, guests will dance the night away thanks to the Verve Agency, who will be providing the entertainment with a Spanish Guitarist, Singer, Sax Player and DJ (Lauren Mac and Andy Murphy).
Funds raised through Polished Man are channeled into trauma prevention and trauma recovery programs for children who are at risk of or have suffered violence. These include ygap accelerator programs, supporting entrepreneurs who are running ventures that focus on ending violence against children.
Funds are also channeled into some of the best trauma recovery agencies in the world including the Australian Childhood Foundation, SAMSN, Hagar Australia and the New York Center for Children
So what are you waiting for?
It’s time to take action and shine a light on this incredible cause – because is shouldn’t hurt to be a child.
