Last week the Spring Racing season kicked off with the ever fabulous Caulfield Cup Carnival – a event filled with fashion, food, entertainment and of course racing.
As I walked through the gates on Saturday’s Guineas Day – there was so doubt the vibe was electric and infectious. Thousands of fashionistas, punters, foodies and racegoers gathered on the lawns of the Caulfield Racecourse for a day of excitement with the 2018 Malibu theme.
So what makes this year such a success?
There’s really something for everyone – from pop up bars to food trucks, DJ sounds to live acts, and plenty of photo ops for those ever important Instagram snaps. For those who love a punt the races are always exciting, featuring some of the greatest horses both Australian and from around the world.
For the fashionistas, the David Jones Fashion Stable is a mecca of all things style.
The fashion fun includes two daily designer runway shows showcasing the latest spring race wear trends, the Catalina Sounds fashion illustrators (which I can speak from experience is simply fabulous) and the all-important GHD Style Stakes – because let’s face it we all need a touch up about half way through the day.
If you are inspired by the trends you see on the say, and really how can you not be, for the very first time the ‘click & collect’ technology will allow you to make a purchase trackside.
The stable also includes a professional photography studio where you can get your race look captured for that all-important Instagram moment – there’s even a chance to win a share in over $25,000 worth of prizes.
Of course it wouldn’t be the races without delicious food and cocktails.
Inspired by Malibu, guests can experience street-food style eats from San Antone by Bludso’s BBQ, Skewer’d and St Kilda Burger Bar all at the Carlton Draught Front Bar.
And for something a little more indulgent Melbourne’s favourite Bistro Guillaume is holding it’s very first pop up restaurant lead of course by Guillaume Brahimi himslef at The Heath Enclosure. While the MRC Young Members Marquee presented by PIMM’s will be featuring Asian-inspired bites by Mr Miyagi.
With the Caulfield Cup coming up this weekend – it’s time to join in the fun.
There’s still time to get your ticket:
