If you’ve been following my page for a while, you will know that I absolutely love a good brunch! It’s the best way to kick off the weekend or enjoy a lazy Sunday.
But every now and then, we Melbourne foodies need something a little different to elevate a dining experience, particularly a brunch – which brings me to my very delicious Sunday at House of Lulu White.
The South Yarra based cafe is anything but conventional – pushing the boundaries in their menu and creating a tranquil pink-inspired atmosphere that allows guests to escape the hustle and bustle.
As a self-professed coffee snob, I have to say the coffee is on point! Brunch started with the most delicious Almond Milk Co. latte followed by the Gnocchi with Salmon tartare, beetroot relish and poached egg. Now I know what you’re thinking – Gnocchi for brunch? But believe me when I say it makes total sense once you try it.
If you’re looking to elevate your brunch experience to the next level (and we did) I highly recommend trying the bottomless brunch – the $35 per person experience offers unlimited Mimosas, Espresso Martinis and Bloody Marys for 90 minutes – delicious!
For those looking to host their next event – Lulu also hires out the space for private functions and makes for the perfect pink LA themed backdrop for a birthday, hens or even corporate function.
At the head of this Melbourne hot spot are power duo Tommy and Jenna McIntosh, I sat down with them to find out the story behind LuLu and what the future has in store …
House of LuLu White just keeps going from strength to strength – what do you think it is that keeps people coming back?
Lulu pushes the boundaries of what a typical cafe should look.
Lulu offers a menu with a Korean flare, loud tunes, bottomless cocktails 7 days a week, giving our fabulous customers an unexpected and unique experience.
Let’s talk food – what are some of the ‘must have’ menu highlights?
I will throw a couple of scenarios at you….
Early morning with my Almond Milk Co. Latte, I would say the Poached Chicken Bowl w’ Spelt, Barley, Kale, Spinach, Avocado, Salsa Verde + Poached Egg or the pan fried Gnocchi with Salmon tartare, beetroot relish + poached egg are the front runners
Now, put a Mimosa in my hand and I’m heading straight to the Fried Chicken + Waffles w’ Nahm Prik, Spring Onion, Chilli, Cucumber, Carrot, Coriander + fried egg – BOOM.
You have the best coffee – and I say this as a complete coffee snob – what’s your secret?
I have been frothing milk since the 90’s (yes I’m that old now!) so coffee is in my DNA
What is the perfect brunch cocktail?
Why just settle with one?!
Lulus Bottomless Brunch offers unlimited cocktails for $35 for 90mins 7 days a week.
So it would be rude not to have one of everything. Starting with a Bloody Mary [for those feeling a little worse for wear] then I’m heading straight to an Espresso Martini, closely followed by a Mimosa or two.
Describe the vibe in 3 words
BRUNCH, COFFEE, COCKTAILS [shall I say anymore?]
