It is often said that to eat the most amazing and authentic food you have to travel far and wide – but if you live in Melbourne, the very best of food is right at your doorstep.
For the month of June Melbourne will be hosting Good Food Month – celebrating the bets of the best in culinary creations. One of the festival’s most anticipated events is the Pasta Party – and it’s not hard to see why…
The event will showcase 3 of the biggest names in Italian cooking , coming together for a delicious night.
Head Chefs Andreas Papadakis (Tipo 00, Melbourne), Mitch Orr (ACME, Sydney), and Joel Valvasori-Pereza (Lulu La Delizia, Perth) are not only the very best in their craft, but they posses an infectious passion – for food, a passion for pasta, a passion that will take guests on an unforgettable foodie journey.
The indulgent menu has been crafted into 4 course, each matched with a glass of exquisite wine from the Brand’s Laira wine portfolio, it really doesn’t get any better.
I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing one of the stars Mitch Orr, to talk all things food, passion and the collaboration that will make this night one to remember…
It must be so exciting to be part of such a wonderful event – how did you become involved?
It’s going to be a lot of fun!
Good Food had the idea of putting together a pasta party and reached out to me, I suppose we’re known at acme for doing some fun things with pasta, and who wouldn’t take a trip to Melbourne when it’s a little work and lots of fun.
What does it mean to you to take guests on this pasta journey?
Everybody loves pasta, even in this new world of gluten free everything.
Deep down everyone wants to put themselves in a pasta coma – I’m always happy to facilitate that.
It seems that when it comes to the food world, there’s a great sense of comradery – How great is it to collaborate with the other chefs?
These days there is definitely a lot of comradery and friendship across the industry.
I haven’t had the opportunity to cook with Andreas and Joel before so it’s going to be fun talking shit and seeing how they work and think about food first hand.
What is the most important element when putting a menu like this together?
It’s really important that we create a balance and flow through the menu, that we’re all on the same page so the guests have a seamless experience.
