Whether it’s the runway, red carpet or the style on the streets – Melbourne has been buzzing with some of the hottest new trends for the Autumn/Winter season.
And while the usual colour of our stylish streets is head-to-toe black, this autumn/winter has proven to add a little more boldness and femininity.
Following last month’s Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival here’s some of the most exciting trends for the cooler season.
Red is the new black
There’s no doubt about it – this season its all about Red Red Red.
Those who own 20 different shades of black may find this quite confronting – but if fashion week was anything to go by, it’s time to step out of your comfort zone and embrace the richness of this bold and beautiful colour.
The good new is there’s plenty of shades to choose from – but I say go for the ‘slay rich red’ and have some fun!
Winter pastels
If you think you have to wait another 5 months to wear sweet, subtle pastels – Think again!
For the girl who prefers a more subtle shade, there was no shortage of soft pastels and floral prints, and it’s reflected on the streets and in the stores.
Winter florals and pastels will make you feel like spring is much closer than it really is.
It’s all in the detail
It wouldn’t be winter without a little edge.
Beautifully detailed belt buckles, intricate hardware on bags and boots have all been part of the fashion week trend – and no doubt will be translating to the streets as the days continue to get cooler.
